Darryl Snodgrass & Mike Stahlman repeat as Clear Lake Western Owners Tournament Champions

Beautiful calm fall weather greeted the 93 teams of Triton Boat Owners at the 6th Annual Triton Owners West Tournament hosted at Konocti Vista Casino on the shores of California’s Clear Lake. Following a week long record breaking heat wave during the practice period the weather ended up perfect with calm temp’s in the mid 80’s.

After two days of fishing Darryl Snodgrass & Mike Stahlman took top honors with 10 fish for 49.38. This was the first time we had repeat winners as Snodgrass and Stahlman won the 2010 TOT West Tournament. The last time they won Snodgrass caught his personal best bass and this year he topped it finally making it into the double digit club with the tournament big bass weighing 10.06. Their first place and big fish winnings added up to $4,420. Snodgrass and Stahlman admitted they caught their fish on pink senkos however this may have been after they learned next year’s tournament will be on the same weekend at Clear Lake.

Second place went to Chris DeVette and Thomas McMahon with 42.42 good for $1800.
Teams from throughout the West traveled to fish California’s famous bass factory and they were not disappointed with many teams weighing in bags over 20 pounds each day.  The average fish weighed in was over 3 pounds.

The highlight of the awards ceremony was the drawing of the boat raffle for a fully rigged 2013 Triton 18 Pro, Mercury 150 Four Stroke, Motor Guide Trolling Motor and Lowrance Depth Finder valued at over $30,000. Five anglers were drawn and they selected a compartment lid to stand on where each had a prize from a Motor Guide Trolling Motor, Duckett Rods, Lowrance HDS 5 and a Power Pole. In the end Joe Alanis was the excited angler standing in his new Triton Boat.

Western Triton Dealers Nixon’s Marine in Walla Walla, WA and Gone Fishin Marine in Dixon, CA co-sponsored and made this year’s event possible. The 7th annual TOT is planned for the first weekend of October 5-6 2013 at Clear Lake once again so make plans to get in on the fun and great fishing.  Make sure to like the Triton Owners Tournament West Facebook page for updates.
