Bass Masters Classic Champion Davy Hite Joins Triton Team

Posted: 3/14/2002

Davy Hite, the 1999 Bass Masters Classic World Champion, continues to be on a winning pattern. Hite, who won the world's biggest fishing prize this summer on the Louisiana Delta, announced he's joined another winning team - Triton Boats.

Earl Bentz, founder and president of Triton Boats based in Ashland City, Tennessee, welcomed the World Champion to a Triton team of the top proessionals on the tournament trail.

"Davy Hite is the pro's pro," said Bentz. "He's proven his ability to compete against the best, and we're anxious for him to represent Triton on the pro-fishing circuit."

Bentz says Hite will be running the company's TR-21 model, one of the biggest and beamiest bass boats built in the industry.

"The way the TR-21 handles in rough water is one reason I wanted on the Triton Team," said Hite. "We're challenged by some of the roughest big water conditions on the pro-fishing circuit. Getting to the fish and having the confidence to make the run is the secret to winning success."

Hite's weight of 55-pounds, 12-ounces, weighed in at the Louisiana Superdome, was a run-away win by almost 10-pounds. His career in the Bass Angler Sportsman Society is a storybook script.

As a rookie pro in 1993, Hite qualified for the World Championship Final. In 1997, the Prosperity, South Carolina angler captured the coveted Bass Angler of the Year honor. Hite narrowly missed winning the Classic Crown in 1996. His 1999 Classic Crown is icing on the cake.

"As impressive as Davy's tournament success has been," added Bentz, "we admire him even more for his work ethic, his family values and the fact that he's a wonderful ambassador for our sport. It's going to be great to have Davy join us as he will certainly complement the other members of the Triton Team."

Besides Davy Hite, the Triton Team is represented by all-pro Ron Shuffield, the recent winner of the 1999 B.A.S.S. MegaBucks and the performance champion in the boat division of the W.C.F. Championship in Illinois.

The Triton Team represents all-star experience and future stars. Roland Martin, the all-time B.A.S.S. winner with 19 victories, is a 9-time Angler-of-the-Year. Classic finalist Randy Howell, veteran Guy Eaker, Kevin Wirth, Gerald Swindle, Randy Dearman, Ray Sedgwick, Fred "Taco" Bland, Dalton Bobo, Fish Fishburne, and many others are also Triton Team members.
