Triton Introduces New Tournament Support Team Trailer

Posted: 3/14/2002

Triton Boats of Ashland City, Tenn., America's premier fiberglass fishing boat manufacturer, recently unveiled their spectacular new Tournament Support Team trailer. Housing a completely self-contained mechanical shop to provide service to Team Triton bass and walleye professionals at major fishing tournaments nationwide, the 53-foot trailer and matching tractor also contains a complete public concession area, and will serve as a rolling billboard promoting professional tournament fishing and the Triton brand as it travels the country.

Triton Boats founder and president Earl Bentz noted the Triton Tournament Support Team trailer was manufactured by Featherlite, Inc., an innovative leader in designing, manufacturing, and marketing high quality aluminum specialty trailers and luxury motorcoaches in Cresco, Iowa. Featherlite is the "Official Trailer and Luxury Coach" of NASCAR and a major supplier of custom race car transporters for top NASCAR teams, including Richard Childress Racing, who owns the car driven by Dale Earnhardt. Other top drivers include Kenny Schrader, Bobby Hamilton, Ricky Rudd, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Sterling Marlin. Bentz said Featherlite's association with NASCAR brought it to the attention of Triton management.³We saw how Featherlite¹s colorful, fully-equipped trailers provided immediate and invaluable service support to NASCAR drivers and support crew," he said. "We also recognized these trailers offered exceptional promotional opportunities to their sponsors. Since Triton is a leading player in major fishing events, we asked Featherlite to design and build a custom service trailer for us. Needless to say, everyone at Triton is extremely pleased with the result."

Triton's custom 53-foot Featherlite trailer is 102 inches wide and 13 1/2 feet tall. It is hauled by a 10-speed Peterbilt tandem-axle diesel tractor producing 425 horsepower. The trailer's striking custom graphics feature a larger than life photograph of a Triton, Tr22 bass boat, running at top speed. Both trailer and tractor are painted to match in official Team Triton colors.

Team Triton tournament support specialist Andy Stallings will drive the trailer to major competitive fishing events nationwide and coordinate service efforts for the company's pro angling staff. "The trailer serves as a completely self-contained mechanical shop," Stallings said. "It houses everything needed to service and repair a Triton boat quickly and efficiently, including tools, air compressor, engine hoist, service ramp and more. In addition, the trailer houses a roomy and comfortable private lounge area a featuring fully-equipped entertainment and refreshment centers for the use of Team Triton pro anglers when they're not on the water."

Janet Stallings will handle sales of official Triton apparel and merchandise through a specially designed service counter that opens on the side of the trailer. The apparel/merchandise area is nearly 100 square feet in size, with an additional 40 square feet of inventory storage on the second floor of the trailer.

Triton Boats pro bass anglers compete in the new World Championship Fishing (WCF) tournament circuit, and the company's Tournament Support Team trailer is especially well-suited to this unique brand of competition, Earl Bentz noted. "This is the first competitive circuit to test a bass angler's boat driving skills as well as his fishing prowess. Anglers in WCF events fish in the morning, then race their boats against the clock through both slalom and straight-line courses in the afternoon. Triton pro Ron Shuffield set the course speed record in his Triton boat during the first WCF racing event held last year. Our new trailer will provide superior team support in both types of competition. No other bass boat manufacturer has a support trailer of this magnitude for its fishing team."

The Triton Boats Tournament Support Trailer will appear at major bass and walleye competitive fishing events including key B.A.S.S. tournaments, including all Top 150 events, MegaBucks and the B.A.S.S. Masters Classic. The trailer will also offer team support services and consumer sales at all WCF events, the Professional Walleye Trail (PWT) circuit, as well as selected Military Bass Association, Fishers of Men, Like Father Like Son and Women's Bass Fishing Association competitions.
